This site has been set up to provide a comprehensive information resource on the de Courcys, in particular the descendants of Robert de Courcei, the founder of the line in Normandy, his son Richard de Courcy who brought the family to England in 1066, and Sir John de Courcy, Richard's great-great-grandson, who transferred the family's principal interests to Ireland in 1177 and whose son Miles de Courcy was granted the Barony of Kingsale in County Cork.
The featured image is the de Courcy castle on the Old Head of Kinsale. The photograph, from Limerick City museum, is thought to have been taken around 1900.
